Pathological gambling, increased libido, andhypersexuality have been reported in patients treated with dopamine agonistsincluding cabergoline. This has been generally reversible upon reduction of thedose or treatment discontinuation (See Postmarketing Surveillance data). Physicians should use the lowest effective dose ofDOSTINEX for the treatment of hyperprolactinemic disorders and shouldperiodically reassess the need for continuing therapy with DOSTINEX. Followingtreatment initiation, clinical and diagnostic monitoring (for example, chest x-ray, CT scan and cardiac echocardiogram) should be conducted to assess therisk of cardiac valvulopathy. The recommended frequency of routineechocardiographic monitoring is every 6 to 12 months or as clinically indicatedwith the presence of signs and symptoms such as edema, new cardiac murmur, dyspnea, or congestive heart failure.

The most commonly reported side effects of Cabaser are listed below. In studies these have occurred in between 3 to 20 percent of patients taking the drug alone or in combination with levodopa. Patients will display mask-like faces and an unbalanced, shuffling walk with this disease. Parkinson’s is caused by a deficiency of a chemical within the brain called dopamine. Cabaser works by enhancing the effect of dopamine thus reversing many of these signs and symptoms of Parkinson’s disease. Cabergoline, sold under the brand name Dostinex among others, is a dopaminergic medication used in the treatment of high prolactin levels, prolactinomas, Parkinson’s disease, and for other indications.3 It is taken by mouth.

Parkinson’s symptoms happen when levels of a chemical messenger in the brain, called dopamine, become too low. You should seek advice from your doctor or pharmacist about taking this medicine. They can help you balance the risks and the benefits of this medicine during pregnancy. Use ofDOSTINEX for the inhibition or suppression of physiologic lactation is notrecommended (see PRECAUTIONS section). There are, however, no adequate and well-controlledstudies in pregnant women. Cabaser tablets are intended to be swallowed (whole or half tablets with a full glass of water) and should be taken with food to reduce side effects of nausea or stomach upsets. Management of excessive daytime sleepiness should focus on the identification of an underlying cause, such as depression or concomitant medication.
